Is there an adapter to use SDR DIMMs in a DDR slot?
Since I recall that manufacturers once made adapters to plug 30pin SIMMs into 72 pin SIMM slots, I was wondering whether anyone had come up with an adapter to do likewise with DIMMs.
Has anyone heard of that?
Answers:
Nope. The different flavors of RAM today make adapters impossible. In the STONE AGE, using SIMM Trees was popular because the old 30 pin SIMMs had the sames specs as the first series of 72 pin SIMMs.
You can SELL your old RAM to some resellers like http://www.coastmemory.com or sell them to get positive feedback at eBay.
Always get the proper RAM for your more modern system. Look up the SPECS and order what matches your current RAM. Buy from a seller that guarantees that it will WORK.
Let's say that you have 512MB of RAM... what good would an extra 16MB do anyway?
Good luck and Happy Computing!
Because the Chips themselves are not compatible no they never made an adaptor I have heard of.
No Way !!
