I was talked out of buying an Apple computor...?

friends said they were too hard to get fixed,so I went for a pc...were they right,or have I done a wrong'n?

Answers:
Macs are no harder to get fixed than a PC. You'll find a bunch of Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) on http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service...

I work on both PC and Macs and can tell you that Apple desktops are a cinch to fix; moreover, anyone who actually does repairs can tell you that Apple's GSX (Global Service Exchange) for AASPs is second-to-none.

The only exception is the iMac G3 which has long been discontinued. It required a lot of prying b/c of the plastic enclosure and CRTs are very dangerous to work around if you're not careful.

PCs are all the same to fix...
Ooopsie! You've made a bit of a boo-boo. Apple computers are not only easy to fix, but come with a virus-free os - Mac OS X. With Windows you'll get problems with slowdowns, file fragmentation, registry corruption, viruses, trojans, spyware, adware, rootkits, etc. I hope you've bought a whole bunch of bolt-ons to hold it togther - you'll need 'em! Never mind, eh :(
I would get one they are amazing my cuz has one u should really get one!
They wre right!

Should of got an Apple!!
This is like asking a question on pro choice. You will not get a consensus.

10 years ago, There was compatibility issues between apple and pc's. Moving data between them was difficult, so since the business world embraced the pc, that was the way to go.

Those reasons have been all but eliminated to the point where it doesn't matter very much (from a compatibility standpoint).

Comparing repair difficulty should not be done between Apple and PC's since PC's are made by many many vendors and only Apple makes Apple computers. Comparing repairs should be done by Dell, Lenovo, Gateway, HP vs Apple for an accurate repair comparison.
maybe they talked you out of buying an apple computer maybe you new one has a spell check on it
They were right Macs are disgusting and horrible to use
apple is much much better in my opinion! my bf has one and i mush prefer it to my pc or laptop, thinking of getting one myself x
I think Apple's service is unparalleled. I've used PC's my whole life, but my friend has a Mac, and I'm always so impressed by the treatment he gets at the Apple store. They're so helpful! Plus they never crash or do weird things like PC's.
apple rotten to the core
I have a mac and a PC and use them for differnt things, don't let anyone tell you that one is better than the other. Thats why they still make both. Yeah a mac has a virus free op. system, but if you run virus software on your PC it should be trouble free as well.
NONONONO, they're completely right, MAC's SUCK! big time
The hardware is the same. The exact same. Here is the deal. PCs are made by EVERYONE, I've built one, dell builds thousands, HP, the geek down the street, there fun cheap and easy to build. This presents a problem to software designers, as the hardware brands and specs are rarely the same from pc to pc. They have to design software to use all kinds of memory types, graphics cards, so forth. Some of this is corrected using drivers.
Apple on the other had churns out thousands of computers that have the same specs. So develpers for Apple know what they are coding for. So you have a lot less errors.

That isn't even the whole of it though, the OS is the major different. Even friend that love Microsoft tell me that the OSs they make are hogs. (they need lots of power) I have worked with XP and have seen the memory drains and security flaws to know that it is a broken OS, and that is windows best offering. I am open minded enough that I am waiting to see how Vista will fair after a few fixes are released, but right now it isn't great.
Now OSX (macs OS) is amazing. It took me 2 days after 19 years of PC to get used to it and 2 weeks for me to be converted from the Mac antagonist that I was to the Mac enthusiast I am now.

The Big problem with Apple is cost. For me I tell myself you get what you pay for. And untill you can legaly put OSX on a "normal" pc I will give my money to Apple.
you have done a bad move, they dont break down , vastly reduced viruses,BUT software can be more expensive
Apple computers tend to be more integrated inside but having said that, they have an excellent after sales service.

PC parts can be bought cheaply or inexpensively and if you have some knowledge, repairing a broken part is straightforward.

However, it would really depend on what you wanted to do with your computer that determines what you buy.

Windows PCs tend to have a lot more software available.

Truth be told, I have two Windows PC and I also have an iMac (early iMac) but I would dearly love a MacBook Pro for my video work. I find the fun side of the Apple computers really cool.
You blew it.

They're incredibly easy to fix or get fixed.

Pay no attention to PC weenies whose only experience with a Mac was fondling the mouse on a Mac at a CompUSA.
Yea apple are too much complicated and the parts aren't cheap.
