1.8GHz Processor or 2.8 Ghz Processor? Intel Pentium 4 on Windows XP?
I am new to this forum so hopefully I write all the information that's needed. I built a computer from old parts and installed Microsoft Windows XP on it. I viewed the system information and this is what it said:
Pentium 4 CPU 2.8 GHz
1.8 GHz
480 Mb of RAM (Another question I have.. Why 480 Mb of RAM when I have a 512 Mb stick?)

Your onboard video is sharing the 32Mb. If you install a graphics card, you could free up that 32Mb back to system RAM.
Also check your fsb settings. It looks like your processor is downclocked to 1.8Ghz or perhaps your motherboard is not capable of the higher fsb capability of the processor.
because the other part of the Memory is being used for your Graphics Part .
Some RAM might be directed or shared for the system in general. 480 Mb is the free memory your computer is working with, the other 32 Mb are supporting some other factors, such as graphics or sound.
As for the processor, I'm not as sure, but if you bought the dual-core Pentium 4 (otherwise known as Pentium D), that might explain the two different readings.
You see 480MB of ram because you have 32MBs reserved by your system for your onboard graphics. You are probably seeing only a 1.8 cpu because you are running 266 ram instead of 400. You system will only run as fast as your slowest ram so if 1 stick is slower that the rest take it out and you should see your cpu speed go higher.
download cpu-z it will tell u also the memory is being eaten up by an on-board graphics card
