I just recently started having this problem i have had vista and Vegas work fine together for about 3 months. Now i am unable to open any of my .avi files rendered from Vegas. I am able to open the .Wmv files that were rendered from Vegas. I did just recently update through Windows updates and I also installed a Mcafee Security Center. After restarted my computer the Errors started to occur. I have updated before but nothing like this has ever happened. Could McAfee be causing the problems??
I have tried opening the .avi files in Every video program i have but an error message always pops up saying that the program has stopped working, and windows must close it. I do have the divx codec installed and i know that it has been known to cause errors with Vista but every thing seemed to be in working order before i updated and installed McAfee. I haven't tried uninstalling McAfee yet because i really don't know what could be causing the problem.

I would uninstall Mcafee to see if it is the problem. I would figure if it was working great before the install that it is probably blocking your program from working correct. Hope this helps.
