Computer Freezes when lots of Programs are open?

My computer freezes constantly when I have a lot of resources being taken up for a couple of minutes. I used to use BOINC and would run it but it uses all my RAM and freezes my computer, also if I am using Paltalk and have several webcam windows open it freezes the screen and I have to reboot manually. I built the computer in December. I have an Intel 3.1 Ghz processor, and 2gb of RAM. I have scanned the registry, viruses, and spyware. It seems like it might be running hot around 60 degrees, I have a industrial fan blowing on it with the side cover off of the tower. My guess is that it is overheating. ? Or maybe some type of settings I did not set when I put the computer together?

Your specs are great. So There a several reasons why your laptop is freezing.

Your RAM specs are good so it could be attributed to how efficiently you use your RAM. issue. Having an insufficient amount of free space does not allow your RAM to function properly. If you are using a lot of RAM for BOINC and game activities without enough empty space your will get freezes. You don't need to buy new RAM but you should increase your free space by removing unnecessary data and perhaps increasing your virtual memory.

1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

2.Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.

3.On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.

4.Under Virtual memory, click Change.

5.Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change. In most computers its C:

6.Under Paging file size for selected drive, click to Custom size check box. You can enter the amount of memory you would like to reserve for Virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.

7.Click Set

Hope this helps!

You have an awesome spec there so upgrading your RAM or Processor won't solve the problem. You might be correct! Your fan/s might need replacement as these are the things that keep your computer cool.
The temp does seem pretty high, also you may want to check for spyware. http://www.spybot.com
Do you have a good cooler on the cpu? With out a good heatsink and good thermal grease, all the fans in the world wont help. Also, check to see if your pc is actually using the ram. I saw one home built with 2gb ram that was actually using the virtual memory as the main ram.
