A blue screen keeps popping up on my computer. There is a message on that screen. What does it mean?
"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disc space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable to driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode emove or disable components, restart your computer, press F* to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

what you need to do, is to format the hard drive, unfortunately, and reinstall windows. you will lose all your pics, and music and things, but that's the only thing that worked for me when mine did that. not even choosing "Last Known Good Configuration". Unless your local CPU store(Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples(Maybe)) can find another solution, that's all i can think of from experience.
It sounds like it is overheating. Sometimes cleaning the CPU fan and heat synch will work.
From parts of it it sounds like it may be stemming from your hard drive being completely full. If you can enter into Windows through safe mode, or any other mode really, go to Start > My computer > then single click on the one labeled Local Disc.
Look to the panel on your left and on the bottom it should show how much hard drive space you have total and how much of that is left.
These directions are for Windows XP.
If it is full, or within a few megabytes of being full, attempt to transfer some of your heftier files, pictures, movies, etc. to another PC or to an external hard drive.
I have had that problem a couple of years ago, i was told that it was a virus that had got deep into my pc, so what i did was save all my stuff on pc i.e photos, music and then i formatted my pc thats deleted the whole pc windows operating system and all and put a fresh copy of windows back in then all was well try giving your pc a deep scan of a antivirus with norton or another good anti virus to see if it digs out any viruses hiding deep inside you windows operating system
