Installing Windows XP SATA drive without floppy drive?
Answers:
Borrow a floppy drive or buy one (less than a tenner).
Connect it temporarily to the floppy controller on your M/Board and away you go.
(If the board doesn't have a floppy controller it's a poo board).
Most SATA drivers are built into Windows. Have you tried it yet?
If you need to go with the F6 drivers, you need a floppy - a USB floppy drive will probably work and they're pretty cheap.
boot from CD ROM insert disc and follow on screen instructions
Go into bios and set first boot as cd second hdd,Once loaded return to bios and set first boot device as hdd.save and exit.
Unless your setting up a RAID array you dont need a floppy drive to install XP. Just boot from cd and follow the onscreen prompts. Good Luck
Hiya.. what I would do is plug all the connecting cabels into the motherboard first. then what you need to do is restart the pc. press whatever button that you have to press to go into the bios. then select to boot from your cd/dvd drive first, please ensure you have the xp disc in the right drive. the sata drive should be automatically recognized. if you want to install windows on that drive then it will give you the option to do that during setup. if you have any further questions you can contact me via yahoo 360
just run from cd follow instruction on screen dont need a floppy as xp will pick it up
