The sound on my xp won't work...PLEAZ help?

wen i first got this comp the sound didnt work. but then i got someone to fix it. but recently i had to reboot the computer and now the sound isnt working again. every time i try to play music it says "cannot playbak the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding." its getting really fustrating.can some PLEAZ help me

Have you checked your control panel? Sound and audio devices? Add and delete...to ADD of course.
Have you checked the speaker on the tool bar strip across the bottom of your screen?
Not too long ago I was having the same problem. It is ok now.
These as suggestions. I can't remember exactly which act of trying did the trick.
You probably need a driver go to your laptop's manufacturer site (ex. hp.com, dell.com, etc.) and look for the page software and driver and choose your model of the laptop and there should be a driver to download
i have the same problem now. you better be ready to send that laptop back to get it fixed bcuz your audio card is shot! something you did blew it. if you connect your stereo to your laptop an pull out the jack fast that probably did it but thats the suggestion i have. if u get it working an dont have to send it in then good for you!
sounds to me like your power to your audio card is malfunctioning or has a short in it. there's a way to temporarily bypass it, but it wont fix your problem. id say you need a new audio card
