I want to move some things on my desktop to a folder on desktop titled "unused desktop shortcuts"?

How do I do that?

Answers:
Drag and drop.

Just left-click and hold whatever item you want to move, and literally "drag" it over top the new folder, then release the mouse left-click button.
drag and drop what you want to put in the folder. Right click on what you want in the folder. Hold down the button and move it ontop of the folder until the folder is highlighted underneath then let the button go and it should be in there.
Right click on an unpopulated part of your desktop. Select "new" that will give you a second menu, select "folder". You will now have an unnamed folder on the desktop. Drag and drop anything in it that you want. In your cause it will be shortcut Icons. If you right click the title under the new folder a menu will pop up, click "rename" and enter the name you want for your new folder.

General suggestion, when ever you are having trouble doing something of this nature don't forget the right mouse button. It took me years to realize that thing had more than one function. It is amazing some of the things you find when you right click something.

Good Luck.
