How much would it cost to get more RAM installed on my computer?
I have a desktop computer right now that's about three years old and I plan to get a laptop after this breaks down. Am I better off sticking with this for a little longer and upgrading the RAM or would I better off buying the new laptop now?

FIRST>>>>>if you're buying the RAM yourself make sure you buy the right kind..(to find out what type of RAM you have ,check your manual, if ya can't find that go to the manufactures web site and look up your model.I hate to tell you this but it sooooo eaassy(!) adding ram is not too much more complicated then putting bread in a toaster .. you can look for instructions on the internet.....but if that still scares you, you should get it installed a small neighbourhood computer shop it is an easy job and should take no more than 5 minutes...for a rookie to do. (It takes longer to open the case that it does to plug in the RAM) these small shops may even do it for nothing or just a nominal amount..if where you live has several small shops -call around and check rates -- or inquire at your local high school they may have a computer course that you can take advantage of and get one of the students to do it for you for little or no money.
Installing more memory is actually very easy if you know anything about computers and it takes only a few minutes.
Unfortunately a lot of computer places charge a flat fee for this type of service and in my opinion the cost is ridiculous.
If your PC is three years old and you plan on getting a laptop anytime soon, then I wouldn't bother upgrading the memory in your desktop.
If you live anywhere in MA or NH -- I will do it for you for free!
You can get bargain ram for under $100. Unless its a high end machine dont bother with premium. To install it just open up the tower and look for the other pieces. Then firmly ground yourself to the machine by grabbing the frame/bare metal and just pust the ram into the slot untill it SNAPS into place. Most computer place will install it for free at the time of purchase if you bring the tower into them.
