Both are not required but at least a defragmentation about once a week is recommended, this will help keep your programs and files together and over time fragmentation will slow down your comuter.
Both of the above mentioned is necessary if you want your computer to run at its optimal speed. If you don't do it, your computer will become slow and sometimes even lag, or freeze. I do it once a week or once every second week, it can only do your computer good..
It's a good idea to get bthe junk out of your box.i do it every time I open it up,including a Spyware clean-up you have no idea how many "cookies"&things you can accumulate in one sort sitting!Do it!
