My computer won't turn on and I really need some help. PLEASE READ DETAILS!?
Answers:
That really is not enough detail. Does the computer power on? Do you see anything on the screen at all? Does the power supply fan spin in the back of the computer when you turn it on?
check the power suply and the battery
how'd you ask this question? ask your friend if she broke it. why was it there, and not at your house?
call the company, or take it to best buy.
Some times after an unexpected power down, you need to pull out the power cord for 10 seconds.
That does not seem to be your problem. Provide more details: When was the last time the computer worked ? What is the difference between then and now?
Make sure that the computer is connected!
good luck
A quick thing to check is the red switch on the back of the power supply. It will either read 230 or 115. Make sure that it is completely in the 115 position, otherwise it wont work. If it were on 230 the symptoms would be exactly what you have described. The only other problem I can think of is that there may have been a brownout and the computer was not plugged into a surge protector. If this is the case your power supply could be fried, and most likely your motherboard along with it.
As a last resort you can open up the case and make sure the power connection to the on/off button has not been jostled loose.
Is everything connected? Maybe some parts are not connected properly. Or maybe your friend accidentally broke it.
The motherboard may be fried. Carefully read everything everyone above me has said, it is extremely good advice!
What does the monitor read when the computer turns on? If the fan does nt spin, it is mostprobably a motherboard problem. You should contact a local technician to come and have a look at it, otherwise, if you alredy have gotten a new PC, or want to get a new one, then you can remove the hard drive if you want, to keep all your old things like photos, programs, etc, and ask someone you know to help you if you don't understand how to, and make sure to keep your new harddrive on Master. The old harddrive should be set to Slave.
Check for a power switch on the power supply where you plug in the power cord, and make sure it is turned on.
Quit being such a woos. Many computers have an on and off switch on the back of computer case which could easily be flipped while transporting it . If its there flip it. Make sure the power cable is seated all the way in at the computer. Make sure that the outlet is not circuited to a light switch for a table lamp by plugging computer in where monitor was plugged. Thats not hard at all , you can do it.
Plug it in.
