I scheduled my C drive disk scan, then after scanning complete, It stops there without starting up windows.?
After a long long hour of disk scan, It says disk scan is complete. Then, it does not start up the window. It just displays

..
Scan is complete."
Then, I restart the computer, with safe mode, it too jams there after retrieving some files.
Then, I tried restart the computer, it repeat the disk scan. After the long hours, I restart the computer. Now i choose booting in normal mode. Then, it directs into disk scan again.
I can never go out. I can never reach the control panel now.
What a stupid windows Xp, I hate these things.

Ok, that's the point. You just have to open up your desktop case, take out the clock battery CR2025. Then restart it without popping into the disk scan page. After that, you go to the C disk control panel to unschedule the disk scan. That's it.

the reason U don't shut down the correct way. Don't un plug ur keyboard. But make sure ur keyboard is connected in the right place. When the scan is complete U click on finish. after U that U should defrag the system. Try pushing F8 when U boot the system up this should give a list to yes or no. element only 1 each time U reboot using F8 till U find which 1 or more in the list is causing the problem. it may B a program that U last installed
If you have your windows XP disk, insert it into the machine and boot the machine. It will display a message to allow you to boot from CD, at this point tap any key.
Setup will start and run for a while then ask you what you want to do.
READ THIS PART CAREFULLY:
YOU MUST HAVE A VALID CD CODE FOR XP OR THIS WILL NOT WORK. If you do not have a legal copy of windows with a code, the thing will be stuck in setup forever.
You will have 2 choices, install windows, or repair windows with the recovery console. Choose install windows, and press enter. At the agreement, press F8 to agree and wait for the next choice,
This time your choice will be to install windows or repair windows. Choose repair, and windows will attempt to repair itself. If you do it this way, you will not loose any data or programs.
TO KEEP YOUR DATA, YOU MUST CHOOSE TO INSTALL AT THE FIRST SCREEN AND REPAIR AT THE SECOND SCREEN. IF YOU CHOOSE INSTALL INSTEAD OF REPAIR AT THE SECOND SCREEN YOUR HARD DRIVE WILL BE ERASED AND YOU WILL LOOSE EVERYTHING.
When it finishes, you will have to put in your code and windows will boot up.
You will need to re activate windows with Microsoft, and if it tells you that you cant, choose the telephone option and call up Microsoft and tell them you had to reload your system.
Be sure to go to windows update and get all updates. You may have to reinstall your antivirus program

Never stop a scan once started...
If a scan Or chkdsk take a long time it for a couple reasone...
1 - you have a large hard drive...
2 - you have a older computer...
3 - if this the case your hard drive is getting week and will need replacing soon...
4 - Give me more info on how old your compuer is and what knid of of usage you use it for...Joe
