My computer wouldn't turn on, so I took it to Best Buy. They said my power supply was bad.?

They didn't have one, so I went somewhere else and got a new one. Best Buy left everything unplugged, so I had to figure out where everything went. I think I have it all plugged in right, but when I turn the computer on, it says "disk boot failure. insert system disk and press enter". Why is it doing this? And what should I do? (I haven't found my disk yet anyway and will this erase everything that's on my computer?)

Did you notice a Hard Drive Light blinking when turning it on? Disc Boot Failure is the message for no Hard Drive recheck the power cable to the Hard Drive and the IDE or SATA cable connections. Make sure there is not a floppy disc in your Floppy Drive if you have one, one of those Geek Squad Guys could of forgot to take out a test floppy. I had those idiots look at my computer once and wouldn't tell me what was wrong with it. I never got a straight answer, I wanted know if it was the CPU or the Motherboard, I replaced the motherboard and it worked just fine, upon researching the web I discovered it was the IDE section of my board. They gave me a $20 Gift card as a settlement LOL. I bought a Sound Blaster Card with it.
it means it cant find ur hard drive. make sure the power and sata/pata cables are connected to the hard drive.
You may have a defective hard drive, see if you can re-install the OS.
Do you still have your receipt from Best Buy? How long have you had the computer? Best Buy sounds like they were very incompetent in doing good customer service for you. Seriously, I would return it.
Don't worry, all your data and information should be fine.

Someone else can answer your question because I don't have the patience to explain everything in one big answer.
see if you can find the disk, if not, when your computer starts, before windows come up, try to boot in safe mode.
Sounds like you haven't reconnected the hard drive properly- double check the cable(s)

Remember, EIDE drives need both a signal cable (flat grey ribbon-like cable that connects to the motherboard) and a power cable plugged in. SATA drives just use one.
No it wont delet any thing
this message mean that your pc can't find your hard disk so he cant start the system
then you must cheek that the power and data cables is connected to your hard disk
i do not know what wrong with it but i can tell you this all your information on your computer will not be gone. if your brake your hard drive then all your information will be gone!

^^^^^ that want it look like so do not brake that
Connect your HDD. It happened to me too. make sure its connected to the Motherboard AND the power supply. If its SATA make sure is in the right plugs.
