What should I upgrade next on my Computer.?

Alright here are my specs. My processor is an AMD 4600 dual core. I have 2 gigs of RAM. 175 gigs of hardrive space left. My graphics card is a Sapphire X1950 XT 256mb PCIe. Now according to my vista score my processor gets a 5.0 and it is the lowest score but i don't want to base my upgrade on just Vista. I have two slots of dual memory channel left and my processor slot is AM2. My computer's model is an HP a1730n with a Thermaltake purepower express 250watt power supply that is soley for the graphics card.

To be honest that's a pretty sturdy gaming rig you've got there.

The CPU would probably be the first thing I'd upgrade if you've got cash to burn. The AMD x2 6000+ only costs about £120 - £140 (www.pricegrabber.co.uk) and will give you a good performance boost.

You might be able to overclock the one you've already got if you improve the cooling (but this does come with risks)

The next thing would be the graphics card, the x1950 xt was one of the best DX9 cards out there, but it's about a year old now and all the talk is about DX10 (Direct X 10) compatible cards being the future of gaming.

However the only DX10 game right now is Lost Planet and that game really isn't anything special. So until they start releasing decent DX10 (or even DX10 only) games I'd save you money and wait for the price on DX10 cards to drop.

So cards like the 8800 GTX Ultra (which will never run with a 250w PSU!!) which cost well over £400 are probably a waste of money right now.

If you're serious about gaming you might want to consider getting two identical HDDs and running them in a RAID 0 configuration, this turns the two drives into one with double the data transfer rate (and before someone flames me, they don't need to be identical, it's just easier!!).

More RAM is always good, but 2Gb should be adequate for your needs.

As you start upgrading your CPU and graphics cards your system will require more power so a more powerful PSU will be needed, I always recommend buying bigger than you need as stressing your PSU by running it close to max power output will cause it to fail sooner rather than later, and they can take all sorts of things down with them when they go!

I really hope that all this helps you out, good luck upgrading and happy gaming!

You can stay the course with that for quite a while.
i would go to raid and put the operating system on it .. then next i would go to like a 6000 processor ... then if i had the money i would go to a sli board and a couple of 8800gts' in sli ..
I wish u to update AMD5000 to your system...
If you play Games, then upgrade the processor and the graphics card. Intel is better for playing or showing 3D. Failing that, maybe you upgrade the sound or get some extra add-ons like TV Tuner etc.
All you need to do is get yourself an nVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX or 8800 Ultra (if you can spare the cash) and you'll be pretty much set for gaming. The power of the 8800 gfx card combined with your 2 gigs of RAM will run Vista and all the latest games very smoothly with great visual quality and almost no slowdowns at all.
