Q6600 vs E6600?
i appreciate detailed ansas cheers guys
Answers:
Right now, due to the fact that most games run single threads the quad isn't doing what its capable of. Thats changing thou and anyone buying the E6600 will, by the end of the year, wish they bought the Q6600. Some are even trading out core 2 duos for quads now. Nothing eats up video editing like a quad, either. If you get a Q6600 make sure you get the SLACR with the new D0 stepping instead of the SL9UM because the SLACR runs a lot cooler, uses less power when throttled down and overclocks better. Heres a site where you can compare the 2 cpus--pick the benchmarks you're interested in. Best bet--go with the Q6600 SLACR

They would just be comparable in games. E6850 would actually be better. Benchmarks here:

The quad core is a clear winner in Media Encoding and 3D Rendering.
