Any computer tips?
Answers:
I'd advise getting a good anti-virus program installed.
AVG is free and is pretty good (http://free.grisoft.com/)
If you've got the money I'd suggest getting Kaspersky's antivirus as it is probably the best one on the market. (http://www.kaspersky.com/)
Other than that just be carefull where you enter personal details on the internet, look for https:// rather than http:// in the internet address bar when entering personal information as this indicates a secure connection.
Perform regular disk defragmentation and error checking (once a month) to do this double click on the "My Computer" icon and then Right Click on your "C" drive select "Properties" then from the "tools" tab there are options to error check and defragment.
They can take a bit of time, depending on the size of your Hard Disk (bigger = longer), but your computer will apreciate it
That's about all I can think of, but should get you started

You should have a virus scan like Norton (i think is the best) but stay away from any sketchy sites i.e. porn. Its pretty hard to hurt your comp these days just use your brain dont open any odd email attachments, and if you get weird links in msn/yahoo ask the person that sent them if they are legit. Good luck with the new lappy.
Run the defrag utility at least once a month.
Keep the updates from Microsoft current.
Get all hardware updates from the Vendor.
For a laptop, be sure to always run it on a solid flat surface and try to prevent any blocking of the airflow.
don't drop it or throw it on the ground ;-)
but really just make sure you scan for adware, spyware, malware, virus etc. Run disk cleanup once in a while, make sure system recovery is enabled in case somethings happens and you need to go back a few days and don't install a bunch or freeware or shareware on it unless you absolutely need it or want it and it should be fine
jeremie is right...
run the defrag once in amonth...
