In which year would my PC have been really advanced ?
Pentium D 820 ( i know this is not a very good dual core processor but consider it as a normal dual core like 9XX series for sake of argument )
512 MB DDR 1 ram
80 GB hard disk ( 7200 rpm )
DVD writer
ASUS P5PE motherboard with onboard graphics and sound
6 USB ports .
Answers:
Its entry level PC, theres nothing that great about it.
It has Integrated graphics and audio, 512MB RAM.
Cutting edge for what? Checking emails and surfing the web?
probably at or around 2003 or 2004-- its still a pretty good system
My guess is mid '05. Pentium D's came out in the Spring of '05.
Never really... Athlon X2s were much better than Pentium Ds, and were out around the same time as them. Pentium D was the lesser of the two. Also, 512MB of RAM hasn't been cutting edge since 2002 or 2003ish, which was before Pentium Ds were out. So this never would have been a cutting edge PC, but I'd say a computer of approximately the same performance would have been cutting edge around 2004, excluding the fact that the processor is dual-core.
