Why is it that???
Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHZ
2Gb pc2 5300
160Gb Hard Drive
744Mb NVIDIA GeForce 7300
I booted My win Vista
I opened Task Manager, and it only shows that I have only one processor.
But when I booted to Win XP
I opened Task Manager, and it shows that I have two processors.
I downloaded other software to check the
E6600, and when I use vista, the software shows that only one core is working. But when I go to windows xp, I opened that software, it shows that two processors are working. Why is it that? what should I do?
Thank you very much!
Answers:
I am not sure that is wise to have two operating systems on the same computer.
The ones I am used to working on always conflict with each other and cause internally created viruses which can cause your computer to crash.
Now I am not saying that is the case, because new things come along everyday, but why would you possibly need both O.S.' to begin with?
If you hear differently, please lt me know, I would love to hear about this new configuration if it is indeed feasible!
That's really strange.
I think that win vista is in conflict with winxp and giving these strange results.
I would call the manufacturer and have them also contact microsoft about this.
PS. Nice graphics card
Happened with my x2.
For some reason, the moron who programmed the task manager was too obtuse to think about dual core processing, making my computer go as slow as hell.
"An Intel dual-core processor consists of two complete execution cores in one physical processor, both running at the same frequency. Both cores share the same packaging and the same interface with the chipset/memory." It is basically two processors in one.
Windows XP was made before Intel came out with Core 2 processors technology, so XP's Task Manager thinks there are two processors connected. Whereas Windows Vista being the newer operating system recognizes the new technology as a single processor. For Vista to recognize two processors, you would have to have a Quad Core setup (two physical processors in separate sockets).
vista is having a conflict with it,
