Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad processors ??
The Core 2 duo PC with a moderately high configuration is costing me around 25,000/- bucks.
What will be the rate of the Quad core processors and How much more I have to invest if I had to later assemble a PC with it ?

I'm assuming he means 25K Rupees, and bucks is also slang for money there also (that last bit was also an assumption).
I'd go with a Core 2 Duo now. Quad-core is just useless now, there's nothing that uses it. Intel came out with the Quad-Cores a little too early in my opinion.
between a dual core and quad core processor, you wont see much of a difference in performance. most programs can't utilize the other two cores of quad, so youll see slight increase in performance, if any, for most of the softwares out there. if you want to 'future proof' your new computer, it might be a good idea to get the quad. as it stands now, it's a waste of money.
25,000? Is that like in Rupees, or what? You can't mean 25,000 bucks=25,000 dollars!! Oh yeah, go with the Core 2 Duo, it'll be WHERE IT'S AT for at least a year!
Your choice is perfect now, to go for Core 2 Duo as it's still known as the latest and fastest processor by Intel, although if you go for Quad Core then your range will go high as it will also need a higher motherboard, after this not even a single person can confidently say that it will definately work with currently running programs, and you will get many problems after spending a lot,
So According to me it will be better if you take a Core 2 Duo Processor with a motherboard that can also support Quad Core processors, a sit will good if you plan to upgrade it later.
