How do you reset the entire memory on a computer?
and also, can you fix a broken disk drive by yourself or is this something you would have to bring in or call someone for?
like if it doesnt open.

I assume by "disc drive" you mean CD/DVD drive. They are cheap to replace, like $20 - $30 at a computer store, or Newegg.com. If it's a brand name PC, under warranty they're free! Just call the support center. They're easy to install too. The only precaution is put it in how you replaced the other one, ie. power cable, ribbon cable. And then if there are jumpers, check the diagram on the top of the disk drive before you put it in to make sure that it's Primary, Secondary, or Cable Select like the one you replaced.
With that done, you are able to reinstall the Operating System. You'll need the recovery discs it came with, backup partion of the hard drive, or ordering/buying a new copy of the OS. If it's a brand name, even out of warranty the original software should be inexpensive to order, like $30. The process has you put the discs in one at a time from when the computer first boots on. You press any key to load from the disc, and then it should guide you very easily from their. If you want the original settings, and have your data backed up if you wanted, choose "Destructive Recovery", "Advanced Recovery" or "Restore to Out Of The Box State".
yes u can replace a drive ... and to fix it you would put in the operating system install disk or restore disk and boot from it ...
Your computer should've come with a Windows Reinstall disc. I'd Google it first, because there are plenty of articles that go into detail about this.
reformat your computer using a windows disk, or the cd's that came with your computer. put the windows disk in the cd drive and restart your computer. when it sais boot from cd press any key to start the installation. if it doesnt say boot from cd, go into your bios config page and set the cd drive to boot before the hard drive. when you get the page of the installation thats asks you where you want to install windows to, delete the C: partition and then choose to install windows to the free space. it will pretty much do everything for you from that point.
you mean the hard drive? with your computer a SYSTEM RESTORE disc should have came. pop it in. and restart the computer. follow the instructions. DO NOT SELECT REPAIR
Scorpio just a little FYI
Memory is reset every time you turn your computer off. Nothing is stored on it except while your computer is being used.
Hard drives are storage where all your programs reside.
CD/DVD s are removable storage that retains the information copied to them and is accessed when you insert it into a computer.
