Mac or PC?
Answers:
defently a pc they are sooooooooooo much better
MACs have always been downplayed cause of their user friendlyness. to hard core computer users the hardware and software was too proprietary and was considered to be too much 'hand holding' and the users were being babyied. to the hard core pc user the pc is just a pc and its all about what you make out of it. if you wanted new funtionality , you could jjust add it with a card.you can do that now with macs but still ...
STINKING MAC USERS!!
PC, more software and hardware upgrade options.
I prefer Macs because I enjoy the interface more. That's mostly because I'm into graphic design, and Macs are historically more aesthetic. Plus, back in the 90s when I got started, it seemed that Macs were more user friendly with desktop publishing apps, especially with keyboard shortcuts. PCs have made great strides in the graphic and web industries, but I'm sticking with my Mac (at least at home; I use a PC at work) since I'm used to it and for nostaglic reasons.
Contrary to your first answerer, I believe the Windows OS has always been more of a handholder, and still is. I say this because the applications seem to constantly offer "helpful hints" and crap that just get in the way. Plus, the system tries to fill in things for you, make things automatic and such that it's very annoying. It tries to force you to do certain things and definitely steers people into a Big Brother environment. Case in point, most of our clients think that Internet Explorer is the only web browser out there. In fact, they think that IE IS the internet. How naive. That's because the Windows environment doesn't open people up to options. It's ALL Microsoft, which makes sense b/c Gates wants their money, but for me, I don't buy into that Big Brother crap.
Also, 99% of PC users I know who criticize Macs have never even used a Mac and are certainly not qualified to give an opinion on them. I have the same feeling about the people answering your question. I use a PC at work so I'm skilled at both. If you're looking to buy a computer, find someone who has a Mac, try it out, or go to a Mac store, and make a decision. Other than the handholding Big Brother stuff of PCs, they do work fine. It's personal preference. I'm never surprised that PC users are so quick to dog Macs whereas Mac users generally just mind their own business.
Oh, and another thing dear, it's easier to find system files on a Mac and other things like application templates. There are few folders to dig into, and the folder structures are more intuitive. My bf who does IT work said it look him some time to find a client's Microsoft Word templates on his PC. He didn't believe me when I said that Word templates are like 2 folders deep from the main app folder, but I showed him - he was shocked!
