That's a great computer for surfing the Internet and working with documents. The fact it has a little bit of a graphics card helps. You won't be able to play any high end games, but it will take some burden off your RAM. It's a very good deal. Go with it.
I have a similar Dell computer and it works great for what I need it for. I just don't have the intergrated webcam which is a nice feature.
If I had to change your configuration, I would upgrade the RAM to 2GB for faster performance. But, it's fine the way it is. I've been buying Dell desktops and laptops for work for 4 years and I am very happy with Dell products. I have had zero problems with their systems.
If you hold out just a little longer when demand is not so high because students are going back to school, you can get a better configured system in 2-3 months. Keep checking back at Dell's site. See if you can start receiving their catalogs in the mail.
In fact, my wife wants to buy my nephew a computer that sounds perfect for him. I'm going to buy it myself.
