Seagate ST3250820AS. Is it compatible with a Molex-SATA adaptor?

I am outgrowing this Maxtor 6Y080M0 80GB SATA hard disk in this computer. I am considering a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB ST3250820AS with 8mb buffer.

I have XP Home Edition SP2 and The power supply doesn't have a SATA power connector and I was wondering, if I could use a Molex-SATA power adaptor to power this hard disk as it seems that Seagate don't have a molex adaptor.

The quick answer is yes.

The reason is the voltages are the same (+12v, +5v, -5v and ground), the 12 is used for the motor and the +5 for the circuit-board. The -5 is for compatibility with older equipment.

The only difference is the shape and size of the connector.

From the reseach it looks the same as the one I bought from Fry's Electronics for my Maxtor awhile back.

I think you are on the right track.
