Is this a good computer?
♦gateway
♦1Ghz
♦3 processor
♦20GB hard drive
♦256mb ram
♦CD-RW drive
Answers:
no.
no it is not, it is very dated.
That would be a fine computer for internet, email and word processing. If you wanna play games or store/edit photos or videos your not even close. You should be able to get it really cheap though if basic putin is all you need and storage/performance isnt an issue.
3 processors? 1GHz each, or altogether? If altogether, um..., hmm.., no, not good.
It'll be ok for doing basic stuff like surfing the web, but won't let you open very many programs at the same time. Nothing like video or (heavy) photo editing here.
no it is not. you should look for one that has:
most computers have 3ghz clock frequency, 1ghz is too low. look for a dual core processor.
20 GB is also too small. most computers have 80 GB of hard disk memory.
256 of ram is slow. you should look for a 1GB ddr2 ram.
CD-RW drive only allows you to work with cd-roms. get a DVD-RW to work with both cd-roms and dvd-roms.
I think what you mean there is a 1ghz Pentium 3 processor if I am not mistaken.
And yes, it is very outdated. But there is no need to upgrade if you are just browsing the Internet and word processing. Any other modern software would probably be crap for this machine.
That's a pretty slow computer compared to what is available now.
If all you do is chat and check mail, the processor speed is okay, but 20gig hard drive is way too small and that system would be a lot better if it had 512 to 1gig of Ram
I wouldn't pay more then $250 for that box based on the listing you gave above.
No... Not
check tomshardware.com oo anandtech.com or pricegrabber.com for new one.
compare price and purchase good one.
no, it's outdated. even laptops have at least 80gb hard drive and 512mb ram.
no. wouldn't get it if my life depended on it
GOD NO! taht one is way out dated
Today standard for new PC is (keep in mind this is minimum spec)
Intel Centrino (processor)
2Ghz (Speed)
512MB (RAM)
80GB (Hard Drive)
DVD+CD-RW
64 video adapter
The normal standard market spec is :
Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion 64 X3
1GB RAM
2.7GHz Speed
120GB Hard Drive
DVD-RW Multi Layer.
128MB video adapter
Dream specification for gamers and Computer geeks are... well alot higher than that.
ten years ago it'd be great but there's very little hard drive space and it'll be slow. If all you do is browse the internet it'd be ok, but i wouldn't pay more than 40 or 50 bucks for it.
the 3 means, Pentium 3?
ammm
it wpuld be a perfect machine
almost ten years ago :S
my pc is a Pentium 4 and it's really outdated girl :S!!
that's a good linux pc, but for windows upgrade that machine please for your performance I mean XD
take care :D
mWo!
