Does anyone know how to open an external hard drive enclosure?? Please!?
Does anyone have a smart-drive usb 2.0 High speed external hard drive enclosure, who can tell me how to open it so I can put my HD in to copy files to my new Vista computer? HELP!!

The one I've got has 2 screws on the faceplate. The connectors are attached to the faceplate. After connecting the 4 pin power connector and the IDE connector, I just inserted everything into the case opening. I screwed the faceplate and it was done.

There are dozens of different types out there and they all open differently.
Usually there are very obvious screws on the top and bottom. Some have the screws on the ends though.
And others cover the screws with rubber feet, so you need to pull those off first.
when i bought min, a teeny tiny Phillips screwdriver was included. there were four screws, two at each end.
if you have a bare hard drive, you can always add it inside the case of your new computer as long as the motherboard supports the drive you have.
You have a pretty specific problem Donna. I would ask you to get some professional help.
