What's the recommended virtual memory for this PC?

Windows XP
Intel Pentium 4 CPU
3.06Ghz 256mb RAM memory.

>Sometimes it says that it has low virtual memory and that it has to increase it.

Answers:
The virtual memory is set by the operating system and does not need to be adjusted. You can change the amount allocated to virtual memory, but the only thing it will do is get rid of the warning, it will not speed your computer up at all.

The reason it tells you that it has to increase it is because you do not have enough Physical Memory installed on the machine. Installing more Physical Memory will give you a HUGE increase in computer performance

I recommend a MINIMUM of 512mb of ram to run XP well.

Virtual memory is just a small portion of the hard drive that is dedicated to handling the overflow of data from the physical memory or RAM. RAM has MUCH faster data transfer rates than a hard drive does, so when you have more ram your computer performs MUCH better.
about 1 gb of memory is good
On Windows XP look in Control Panel: System, Advanced, Performance Settings, Advanced, Virtual Memory.
change max number to higher and thats it
