How can I get back my computer memory?

I purchased a computer to play the sims 2 at the time it had 512 mb or ram and the basic running programs. now not only can i not play the sims but my microsoft office has dissapeared along with all my other major programs i just use it for the internet now. I uninstalled all my other programs and it still is constantly giving me a a error saying low disk space . is there a way to get back all my memory. I wouldn't mind deleting everything and starting over like it was a new computer.

Answers:
Buy a bigger hard drive, I guess. You've already uninstalled everything you don't use? Maybe you could try defraging your computer.
RESET IT
Try the system restore utility in the Accessories --> System tools area.

Go back to a date when the system was working.

Caution: May delete some installed programs.
Your RAM has nothing to do with disk space. RAM is erased as soon as your computer shuts down. There are two things you can do. Continue to clean off the programs you do not use OR add another hard drive to your system. Compressing files will not make much difference on your system, even a disk cleanup will not really make a large difference either.

Most of these disk cleaners people mention will often cause you more trouble by corrupting files and creating registry errors. If you have uninstalled everything you can my advice to you is back up what you wanna keep to a external device and wipe the hard drive OR buy a larger one either to take the place of the current one or add to the one you currently have.
low disk space is not your memory its hard drive space, do disk cleanup, go through all your mydocumets and delete anything that you dont need ... also check your c:\programfiles to ensure the programs you have already removed dont still have folders sitting in there.

check into cleanmypc registry cleaner (folder removal too)
Start first by deleting all of your temporary internet files, then run the disk cleanup utility. Also, you should run your Disk Defragmenter program at least once a week. Also, go check your installed prgrams, find the ones you never use and delete them. This should really free up a lot of memory, and boost your computers speed! Good Luck!
hi there is nothing to be worried, what you have to do is nothing but you have to set the paging on the disk, just right click the computer and set the paging on hard disk and its performance will be increased.

go in to disk clean up and disk defragmenter this will take som time but will give you what you need
Your hard drive is probably full. You should delete or move unneeded files; like songs, photos, etc. USB external hard drives are getting cheap and can be used for extra storage space. You can get rid of some unneeded files by using Disk Cleanup; Start - All Programs -Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup. If you want to start over you can always run the system restore CD that came with your computer.
Delete all your temporary files, cookies, and run disk cleanup to filter out anything you may have missed. Go to Add/Remove Programs and continue to pick and choose the programs you want to get rid of and those you want to keep. If you have bitlord/limewire or some other torrent thing, you may want to delete it along with all the files you've already downloaded (assuming that you download movies/tv/music/etc.). After that, shut down your computer completely, then restart it after a few minutes and recheck your memory.

Good luck!
