On/off button on computer?

boyfriend got mad and pressed on/off button on computer really hard and turned it off, I had to open it up and manually turn it on by holding my finger against this piece and pressing the button, it works but doesnt have anything to push against to turn it on so I guess it is broke, my question is how can I fix this myself and how much will it cost

Answers:
i've actually had this problem myself. what i actually did was break a pencil in half (eraser sticking out), attach it close enough to the button inside the case, and duct tape it down. works like a charm unless you lose the pencil inside the tower or you accidentally run into it.
You will need to buy a new case for it, and swap everything over to it.
Don't try to fix it yourself.
well go to a professional but dont bring yopur computer with u and ask what u want to know
if you fix it yourself nothing but if you dont know what you are doing take it to a pc repair shop and ask for an estimate shouldn't be much tho
It's just simple button, go to the computer accessories store and buy new one with wires and everything. Replacement can be done in 2 min and can't cost more than few bucks.
Check with a computer repair shop. The power button is a common item and should be replaceable. Even if they charge too much, it won't be over $10.
If the button itself still works then you should be able to carefully glue the button back on to the case using superglue. Have a good look at where it was attached before your idiot boyfriend broke it so that you'll know where to apply glue.
You have better go to the Computer repair shop. It will definately be changed. But don't try this at home. If you do it you may do it on your risk. If you do anything wrong, it would have harm other mechanical component too. It may be the borad it self or RAM or any electronic component. So I would suggest you to get it repaired by the professional only. Because it is saying "A little knowledge is dangerous"
