After 2 years, your computer is probably obsolete anyway! Take it to a competent computer repair person, it may be the button that doesn't work or the power supply itself may be faulty!
well guess what it costs around 300 dollars, but i got a solution for that buy a control at a store for your computer and hook it up then you'll be able to turn it on and other stuff make your life easier.

You can take the faceplate off of your computer and see if the switch is burnt up or what. It's just a momentary pushbutton, and they're really not hard to find. I think you can order one from Radio Shack.
Are you using Windows?
If so, to turn off your computer every time you should use the start button in the bottom right of your screen.
Then a new menu pops up. In the bottom right there is another box turn off your computer. Then another box, Then the red box in the middle says turn off your computer.
For starters, are you saying that no sounds happen in your PC when you turn it on, no lights flash on the power button? Or does it seem like the monitor isn't coming on, a orange light appears on the monitor when it stays powered off and a green light would appear if the monitor was activated by turning on the PC. If there is no sound coming from your pc when you press the power button, you could open the case and observe if any 'action' takes place when pressing the power button. If you still can't get it to do anything after that you 'd need to take it to a computer repair. Maybe the CMOS battery is dead or something else, but either way you'd need someone who knew what they were doing at this point.
