Computer not starting up right?

Have you tried booting in safe mode?
Hold the power button til it turns off. And if it doesn't turn off that way pull the power plug out the back of the machine. Plug it back in, turn it on, press F8 upon booting. If it boots successfully in safe mode i'd scan it for a virus, spyware etc. If it does not boot, personally it sounds like a software issue to me, i'd slave that hard drive to another machine back up my information and format and reload the O.S.
Try to boot it from your XP installation disk, or a boot disk. Your hard drive may have gone bad.

Use safe mode to get into your computer, and then find the infection // problem that has caused the problem. I suggest to boot in safe mode by pressing the [F8] button several times after you turn on the machine, and choose to start in the 'SafeMode'. In this 'skinny' version of Windows you can fix the problem.
START > RUN > 'MSCONFIG' > *Get rid of spyware values, and resore all Windows values.'
If that doesn't work, try a system restore. =]
Just at boot up press and hold F8 for a sec or two. Scroll with arrows to A time when my computer worked a better configuration press ENTER.
That might do the trick.
Go in your computer bios by presing del. key or by F2 key or u r using branded computer then press F10 or f1
check ur first boot devoice is harddisk drive if not make if then save it and restart.
