How do I get my desktop speakers to work again?

some games install their own sound codecs that may have conflicted with ur sound driver .. but try going to device manager and uninstalling ur sound device ... then reboot ..
Turn up your volume! or if that doesn't work go to; Start, All Programs, Accesories, Entertainment, Volume Control. Make sure none of these are muted. Hope i helped.
