I have a Dell Optiplex GX110
These are my System Specs.
Video Card is NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
RAM is 256 Mb
Processor is Intel Pentium 3 933 MHz.
How much would it cost to upgrade my Processor to something with at least 2 GHz and maybe my memory to 512 Mb or 1 Gb?
I am perfectly alright with my video card.

Answers:
Optiplex GX110
USB1.0; PCI and ISA slots; CD Burner?; 10-40 GB hard drive; Pentium III; 133 MHz buss; Win 98 or 2000 (ME)?

You can buy a Optiplex GX110 for between $10 and $60 per eBay completed listing prices.

The FX 5500 is $28.99 brand new at

It is probably a very bad idea of putting any money into a computer this old.

Your biggest issue when trying to upgrade your processor from the Pentium 3 series is finding a different processor that is going to fit that motherboard. Pentium 3's as a general rule stopped at around 1ghz in size and is a 370pin processor, when they announced the Pentium 4 processor the pin configuration changed to 478pins. You need to cross reference your motherboard specification sheet to determine what processors it is rated to support first. The same applies to the memory.

According to specification sheets from third parties, the motherboard only supports a maximum of 512mgs of memory with any one stick not exceeding 256mgs with a total of 2 memory slots available. It also states it uses PC100 SDRam. Here is a link to a stick of 256mg PC100 SDRam for sale: http://www.upgrade-solution.com/detail.c... . Here is a link to the largest P3 processor I could find you can still purchase new which is a P3 1.4ghz: http://www.starmicro.net/detail.aspx?id=... .

I hope this helps.
