My cd drive was not reading cds, so I bought a new one and it is still not reading the cds.?

I tried reinstalling the drivers, but that didn't work. What could the problem be?

Answers:
update or install the drivers. usually the site "whoever made your driver" has driver updates.

right click mycomp then onto the hardware tab, then device manager there check the drive.click update or install driver.
OR
go to miscrosoft scan comp for updates.
using microsoft is not the same as if you wen to the drivers manufacturers site, downloaded and installed the driver.
IDE cable, otherwise its ur mobo
Check the jumpers on the cdrom drive and the cables. Make sure you connected it to the secondary IDE cable and not the primary hard drive cable.

Make sure it is set for the right cable connection. Master or Slave.

You can disconnect it, boot up without the cdrom connected. Shut down and reconnect it and boot back up. Normally this will get windows to recognize a cdrom is installed.
check ur IDE Cable. i think it is damaged
