Why is my computer so slow?!?

I've cleaned it several times (while i'm cleaning it, I see a bunch of things I have deleted and uninstalled a LONG time ago), I've checked for a virus, and still nothing!! It takes almost an hour to load a 3 minute video and it always has a "memory error" What do I do?! I am almost ready to buy a new computer. Please help me!

Answers:
RAM is not the only problem with the computer it could also be a worm or trojan which will use alot of the memory to send it's programs out to other computers and infecting them as well as causing problems on your computer.
Memory error means RAM.
RAM speeds up the computer, if it is bad then it will be slow.
Try to change the RAM you have.
Hope it helps
you probably have a windows trying to load a lot of programs when its starting up. you should try this:

Startup Control Panel - http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml...

go through that program and uncheck everything in the menu you dont want to run at start up should help to boot windows up faster

also you should try this program

CCleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com/

it will clean up a lot of junk on your computer for you.
Heres a few reasons why it might be slow:
1) It's just plain old.
2) It's in need of more ram (Random Access Memory)
3) The CPU is getting a little over heated from either dust build-up on the heatsink or from doing too much multi-tasking.
4) Too much spyware.
5) If its only slow on the internet it might be:
a) Too much network traffic (from alot of people being online at the same time)
b) Your connection needs to be refreshed/repaired ( which can be fixed by right clicking on the active connection in Start/settings/control pannel/network connections.
6) Your computer is in need of a restart.
If that doesnt fix it then you might just want to bite the bullet and go buy a new PC.
it's a PC
you can try to "Air out" the dust inside your computer. Firt buy a can of compressed air, open up your computer case, and air the dust out of it but when you air the CPU fan hold the fan blade because you can mess up the fan because of no power. Cantact me if you need more info

P.S. the memory error means your RAM is damaged you should replace your memory with:
Vista: 1GB
XP: 512MB
2000/98: 256MB

It works very well.
If your virus/spyware free, there are a couple things you can do get your computer working the way it was originally. If you using your laptop for normal stuff and not gaming. You got a good setup. You don't need more RAM you just need to perform a few maintenance task.

Firstly, if you haven't cleaned your registry in a while. This is necessary. Your registry holds all the information regarding updates, installs, un-installs etc. Each one of those events has

a key. That key needs your PC's resources and free space. So, if you should clean your registry, you make more resources available for spped. Do a registry scan if you got more than 20 errors you should clean it.

2. Clear your Windows cache files, this your temporary file. It can grow up to a large volume and stop your computer from using RAM properly. In a sense slow it down by preventing it from using free space. Here is how:

1. Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
2. Click Start, click "Control Panel", and then double-click "Internet Options".
3. On the General tab, click "Delete Files" under Temporary Internet Files.
4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the "Delete all offline content" check box , and then click OK.
5. Click OK.

3. Manage your startups. Your excess CPU usage is due to too many programs running in the background. You can cut these to barebones by alter your msconfig. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"

Other great tip is increasing your virtual memory to simulate more RAM. This will give you a bit more resources for multiple program use or CPU heavy programs. Check the link to alter your virtual memory spec.

Hope this link helps. Shows you how to do everything step by step. You should get a least 60% more resources and speed
if you follow the tips.
