Macbook reformatting itself?

my macbook reformatted itself for some reason after I had downloaded Drumbeat and Poisoned (both file sharing freeware). Every files were gone. I lost all my music. Can anyone tell me the possible cause. And if I can get my files back again. Thanks.

Mr. a there are viruses (i.e. worms, and the mall ware apple has like bonjure or ishare that leave big openings) that can get macs, and there a bunch of them apple just patches them so they dont hit many people since there is no means of distribution to a platform that takes 5% of the market, and hacker generally use free bsd witch is what osx is based on so why would u hit yourself

and the only way that it will reformat is if u hit the clover and then went into the recovery console, so u ether got a worm (not likely) or some1 is messing with u (probable), ive used osx for about a year and a half as a secondary os for school, and ive had to reformat its full of warnings in the osx installer so some1 had to have done it

also on free bsd u cant format the slice (portion for non fbsd/obsd systems) with the kernel on it so u have to launch from a different kernel and then format the drive
Take it to the Apple store and ask em whats up.
in which way did it reformat itself? you're probably talking about completely wiped your hard drive? it wouldn't do that by itself and there are NO viruses for the Mac so it's either something you accidently did or the file sharing programs probably got into the core files. chances of recovering your files? not at all. and to the guy beneath me, does the constant blue screen means it "just works"?
Well, half of the file sharing apps out there usually come bundled with malware. That could be the cause. As for the solution, I'd get a PC. 'They just work'.
