Will it completely ruin your entire computer if you spill water on the keyboard?
Answers:
Offer to buy a keyboard. If fact, bring one over to try out.
You see, a bad keyboard can prevent anything from working correctly. Replacing the keyboard with a brand new one should do the trick. If you know a reputable Computer Repair shop, you can suggest that they provide the professional support. You see, that way a professional is checking this out. If this does work, consider giving them a USB thumb drive or other gift to make amends. But consider your daughter's unemployment. sorry.
Here's a new rule. Your daughter should NEVER use someone else's computer EVEN with permission. You see, they call it PC, which means Personal Computer.
Good luck and Happy Computing!
I spilled a half a can of Sprite on mine and worked fine.
not ur whole computer...just the keyboard..ur keyboard is a whole different thing i think
Disconnect the power to the keyboard and let it dry out.
i dont know i think it should only fry the keyboard but i guess it could have short circuted the tower. tell them to hit the switch in the back of the tower and try turning it back on. but yeah the keyboard will need replacing.
no thats not normally true ;;
they just need a new keyboard ;;
they might be trying to just scam money out of you .
buy them a new keyboard and install it & see if the computer will work again ;;
if not im afraid you will have to get a new computer for them.
i don't think it would. i think it would just mess up the keyboard.
no it wouldn't they just need a keyboard and if they were babysitting why do you have to buy it? they should of been doing their job and watching your child
wow thats not very nice of them. No way would it mess with the rest of the computer unless it ran off of the keyboard and into the computer. (like if the computer was under the keyboard)
Laptop/notebook. possably
Desk top no.
Actualy I ocasionaly pop all the keys off and wash it wish dish soap and let it dry. This gets the Gunk out from under it.
should only be key board .you can get a new one from £4 up at copycatz.unless water got into computor body should only require key board
only the keyboard should be damaged, get it looked by technician to double check
I once spilled a beer on my laptop, and it still works fine. Of course, I immediately turned it off, uplugged it, wiped off what I could and then turned the laptop upside down so that the beer couldnt get down into the "brains" of the computer. The next day it worked fine.
Try bringing over another keyboard to see if that solves the problem. I find it highly unlikely that the whole system could be fried from just water on the keyboard. Sounds like they are trying to BS you. You should find a new babysitter, too.
No it probably just fried the keyboard, unless it was a laptop/desktop-replacement type of desktop computer, in which case you could be hosed.
Don't think twice , get a nice keyboard and make sure that's the issue, offer to get them a service call at Geeksquad or something.
It will be reasonably cheap, a new keyboard is at most about 35 bucks (about 12 bucks for the ones that usually come with most computers these days).
A visit to Geeksquad or your local tech-shop shouldn't be more than about 50 to 60 bucks.
But the presumption here is that the water didn't get onto the computer / processor box.
Even it is does splash onto the computer, that's a cleanup job, once you're sure everything is dried out, and there is no more water left around, you can use the computer again.
My recommendation would be Geeksquad - stat.
That’s dirty of them. It only needs a keyboard most likely. Seems like they are trying to scam you of free computer. Besides, they were hired to watch your child. That means your child was in their care. Apparently they weren’t watching your child to well.
no, just bugger your keyboard at worse!
tell them to show you the computer, and bring a new keyboard, also ask your daughter if there was something wrong with it in the first place, i.e. was it very slow.
no it wont. I spilled tea, and it worked fine, the only problem was that keys got sticky, but then after spilling some alcohol there it got fixed =)
No only the keyboard
The people you babysitted for are scamming you, Take em to court.
they lied to you and want to just get a new computer. the worst that can happen is the keyboard can get screwed
