I have an acer inspire desktop computer. My dvd/cd-rom isn't working. It doesn't recognize any of my discs

i have an acer inspire, not even a yr. old.
I've tried system restore, updates and all.
When i put a disc in, the light blinks a few times and then just cuts off.
It doesn't recognize discs at all
When i got to my computer it doesn't show that there is a disc in there.
When i go to my device manager it says that it's working properly.
Somebody plz help me, i'm really getting frustrated

Answers:
Update your DVD rom driver to the most recent ones to make it work on Windows Vista. Just find what company made your rom drive, and then go to their website, go to product support, and download driver for your product. (Everything should be explained in the manual of your product)
