How can I get rid of the weather channel that pops up 1st everytime I turn on my comp.?

I've gone into change/remove,and it locks up,and won't let me remove it.

Answers:
For the most part thats a spyware/adware program .. run a scan for it and it should remove it. If it still locks up on you reboot your computer in safe mode and remove it that way.
Click on Start...run...type in msconfig, then click on OK. Click on 'startup' then scroll until you find something with the name of that program and uncheck it. Then click on Ok. This won't remove it from your computer, it will just stop it from popping up on start up.

You'll probably have to reboot and if you're using XP, on restart it will probably mention the change you made. Just click on ok.

To remove it, find it in your start/programs menu and see if there is an 'uninstall' option. If not, right click on the icon in the task tray and see if there is a 'help' option. Usually if there is it will give you instructions on how to uninstall it. Of course do this first before you disable it in the startup menu.
I recommend you use ad-aware if it is some kind of adware/spyware program. If not; check your Add/Remove Programs (Start>>Control Panel>>Add or Remove Programs) and look for the application there and uninstall it.

There are two methods for accessing this program - either one works equally well:

1. In the Windows task bar, click on Start->All Programs->The Weather Channel->Screensaver->Preferen...
2. Via the Windows control panel:
1. Double-click on "Add or Remove Programs"
2. Highlight "The Weather Channel Screensaver"
3. Click the "Change/Remove" button and follow the prompts

If for some reason the automated uninstall program doesn't work for you, you can also remove the screen saver program files manually.

To manually remove the files created by The Weather Channel Screensaver, simply delete the folder C:\Program Files\The Weather Channel FW\Screensaver. We strongly recommend against deleting the entire "The Weather Channel FW" directory as this also deletes a critical file necessary for operation of any other Weather Channel applications.
