Turning Off My Computer Through The Start Menu?
Answers:
Restore your pc to a prior date thru "system restore". To do this:
start>programs>accessories>sys... tools>system restore.
It will ask you to pick a point to restore to. Find a date prior to this happening and choose it. It has to be a BOLD date. Sometimes it will say "system checkpoint" as well. Chose either and follow the directions.
XP has a feature where it updates after you press the shut down. and can take a long time to down load and install these updates after which it shuts down by itself. If you wish to change this turn off automatic updates
I am afraid I would need a little more detail to be able to diagnose the problem. It could be a number of things wrong with it. I would suggest trying to run a virus scan and run scandisk to see if something is wrong there. If not, it may be good for you to just reinstall windows provided you have the installation CD.
Of course, you could always try System Restore back to a point when it was working right. that would be the really easy method.
