I tried to install windows xp on my computer that was running windows ME and now everytime I try to boot up the setup to windows xp there's an error that always comes up. I have a compaq and I lost the restore disk to my compaq computer. Is there any website where you can download a restore disk and put it in your computer and it will restore the computer to it's factory condition? I am running Windows ME on a compaq presario 5000

You will need to purchase the restore disk for your Compaq. If you can aquire a legitimate copy of Windows XP, you will still have to download and install all the drivers to your computer. HP (Compaq) will charge you $40 for the replacement CD's.
I highly recommend Windows XP over Windows ME anyday.
