How good is a 5ghz processor?
Answers:
If u cud do an update to ur question telling us exactly what processor u have. I have never heard of a processor that fast. Example my pc has an Intel Pentium 4 processor that runs at 3.2 giga hertz.(ghz) I know Dell has been selling an Intel processor they overclock from the factory they put in a $5000.00 gaming pc that runs at 3.5ghz. Need more info.
google it
too good to be true
as good as a 5ghz processor.
For high end 3D games and servers, its too good...FOr desktop applications like word processing, browsing, its good...too good that you dont need so much goodness.
Ultra good if you compared it to a Celeron.
You can no longer rate how good a processor is on speed alone as you could in 1997.
There are many other factors to consider now that all form the picture of how good a CPU is.
Not just bare speed in GHz. You need to look at the front side bus speed, whether or not it's dual/quad core, whether or not it's AMD/Intel. Presently all Intel chips beat their AMD counterparts because of their architecture even if speed ratings are similar. This was not the case a few years ago.
CPU technology changes rapidly and so does the way in which you decide which is best. GHz speed alone is not enough to decide.
well a few years ago it would have been good, but as dual and quad cores have come in to the market MHz and Ghz don't really matter.. its more to do with how big the FSB (front side bus) is and how fast the RAM is in MHz so the CPU and RAM can talk to each other faster... a 5Ghz processor wouldn't be any faster then a good 2.4Ghz dual core AMD
too good to be beleived.. lightning fast.. u need to use appropriate RAM though around 2 GB
It would be very good for very demanding stuff like 3dgames but like word ,excel or browsing its completely a waste but make sure if ur going to do that have a good heatsink or a liquid cooling and have a good mobo that can withstand all that heat oh and some processors can go even further then 5 ghz but for that you will need liquid nitrogen which i wouldnt recommend to dangerous and i have a Pentium D processor overclocked to 4.1 i can go further but nah have it liquid cooled oh in this is my gaming pc
could u guys imagine the heat coming off that thing?
I have only seen CPU speeds like that ans beyond with nitrogen cooling and overclocked like ****.
To answer your question, how good would it be depends on other factors as well such as FSB & L2 cache (like others already said).
