AMD 64x2 vs Intel's duo core? Which is better? Someone please explain the whole processor thing to me?

Or are they equivalent and just different?
For example, an athlon 64x2 with 2.1 ghz is just as good as an intel duo core of 2.1 ghz?
Also, i don't know if there's a difference between the "core 2 duo" and the "duo core"... will someone please explain?

Answers:
The difference between core 2 duo, and amd's 64x2 is simply the architecture of the cpu. GHZ speed doesnt matter at this point. It used to a little but now there are many more differences that play into speed. As of right now, core 2 duo's are faster then amd's dual cores. Intel has come up with a new architecture that put them ahead, but it wont be long. The other big difference between the two is the price, AMD's are cheaper. I myself always favored AMD, and still always will even if they are passed up in performance. AMD is the company I trust and I have never had issues with. Each processor has sets of caches also, Core 2 Duos are larger, but you won't notice to much of a difference on the cache's.

Edit: I've read a few more replies here, and i just wanted to let you know AMD is very popular, but intel has overpowered AMD with the core 2 duo. You can look on many websites, looking at benchmarks of intel vs amd and you can see the core 2 duo will surpass amd in most situations. Back 2 years ago when there was no core 2 duo, yes amd was ahead of the market. AMD was made more for gaming than multitasking. This is the reason most still use AMD and will forever use it.
I am running the AMD Athlon 64x2 in my system and I love it. Its really strong and overclockable if you are a gamer. Stay away from Intel.
AMD by far is better. Your right for the most about the clock speed. If you go to AMD's website they will give you the clock speed equivelant of Intel's (or at least they used to). You can also google the clock speeds. Historically, Intel has been better. Earlier on AMD had serious over heating issues. They have resolved the problem and their processors are powerful. Most gamers use AMD computers because they need serious amounts of processing power so that should tell you something as well.
