Is it good to compress files? If it is, if you uncompress the file, will the file be affected?

no you won't do any damage to the files as long as you use a credible program. Winzip is a good compression program.
Welll compressing files is used in diskclean up in accerories or something in xp. To get to the point it is perfectly safe to compresss files and its easy nothing can go wrong. Its impossible an dit might even save about of space.
Its good to compress just to save space. However you wont lose quality in the file or anything. But in my opinion its a waste because it doesn't save that much space.

I almost always compress my music files before I attach them as an email. I never have a problem with uncompressing. I do a lot of music production and editing across the country with other artist
