If you will be doing multi- tasking(office work while editting of any kind then duo core .If this is basically for one application at time and for games then go with a single core It will out perform that specific duo proccessor 2 to 1 If you want a dual core to out distance a3.2ghz in a single application youll have to go a lot higher on the food chain like a 6600. New or not that duo will run your anti virus in the back ground at 1to 1.3 ghz and the program you want at a whopping 1to1.3ghz The p4 both at 3.2ghz Guess which one gets done faster. Check and see if that duo or p4 can be upgraded now or later If the duo core cant be upgraded stick with the p4 for now and when; if ever , they start writing software for the 64 bit and dual core proccessors you can upgrade. Were still waiting for 64 bit soft ware and its been 41/2 years!
it depends on what u r going for.if ur going for speed then the P4 is faster than the duo core BUT it depends on what else u want on the cpu...i look at not only speed but size of hards drives and what kind of graphics it has..also the amount of ram PLUS how expandable it is ..meaning how much can be added to it for an upgrade so it really depends on what ur looking for in a cpu to which one u should get
duo's eat p4's for lunch...no brainer'
Choose the Duo. The Pentium 4 is outdated and no longer in production...plus it only has one processing core.
Duo is two cores. It's newer, and faster. Don't look at the GHz. There's no big difference between the numbers these days. I would get a dual core PC. P4's are old, since 2004.
