A simple CPU press ( Easy 10 Points) ... Read on...?

I am decide what type of CPU would best suit me for my laptop. To my knowledge, if i plan to run multiple programs at same time (download bad limewire and running a virus check at same time) a Duo Core would be best.but
If i plan on doing 1 task at a time (download past its sell-by date limewire, THEN run a virus check after download is complete) a good ol pentium 4 is best.
Am i correct?

I lately got the Dell 1521. It is beside the T7500, Core 2 DUo, 2.2 GHz. it runs like a animal. You can't get P4's on laptops anymore, plus the different CPU's save enthusiasm, and are way faster. They also consume smaller number energy, which manner longer run times for your battery. A Core 2 Duo will blow you away. Don't attain an old P4, it's outdated and useless.
no
most that antivirus crap runs simultaneously

bring back a macbook no need to verbs about that
You are correct...I still would achieve the Duo Core, just better and faster..wouldn't you similar to to multitask?
Quite honestly the Quad Core is the best right now.
Pentium 4 chips are cheaper than dual or quad core.

If your programs are written for dual core they will be faster than an frail Pentium. But only leading programs like Photoshop, video editing, and a few brand bright games are programed to use 2 cores. The number of programs will increase as they are rewritten to use 2 or more cores.

But if you can get a definite CPU deal and singular do simple tasks like downloading, surfing, virus check one at a time you will not see an increase to prove correct the extra price for multiple cores at this time.
Yes you are!!!!!...... points please!!!!!!!!...
No, you are wrong. Even a single core of a Core 2 Duo is faster than the Pentium 4s, they do more instructions per clock cycle, which allows them to do more work at a lower clock speed. Also, as someone else mentioned you don't get Pentium 4s for laptops, I suppose you designed Pentium Ms, which I don't even think are still offered.
