Can you use DirectX 9.0C on a DirectX 10 card?

i don't have vista and i was wondering if you could just use a direct x 10 card with the previous DirectX (9.0C), with my windows xp software with out giving me problems or preformance issues?

Answers:
using xp, a dx10 card is just a normal dx9 card.
As far as I know, direct X10 cards only work with the Vista OS.
it will work. The Rendering and Physics of the card will Resemble that of DirectX 9
DX10 only ships with vista, you wont be able to use dx 10 on anything but vista.

But you can use a new card that supports dx10 on XP, it will work just fine. its fully backwards compatible.
Yes a dx10 card will work with dx9c.
