My dvd burner is not burning to a dvd disk and i dont know why? i took this burning out of a old computer.?

it reads dvds but will not burn them.after i try to burn using one of 3 soltware programs it appears to go though the motions and says it is writing to disk then 50 mins. later it ejects stating it has completed the task.but apon acessing the dvd its still blank. is it the drivers or could my burner be broke, how do i get it to burn.i dont have the orgin. cd soltware for the burner.

Answers:
make sure its a dvd burner. visit the dvd burners website for updated drivers. you can also try cleaning the lens although that doesn't sound like the issue, reason being, is it reads dvd's.
You can try with another burning program, but if that doesn't help you can search for new drivers on the net. And are you sure it's a dvd burner, and not just a dvd reader? You haven't said does the burner worked for you before
if u r new to burning dvd's and so on make sure that if the program is also new that it is set to burn and NOT simulate..some programs will simulate a burn and go thru all the motions but just give u blank disks...it happened to me a drove me crazy lol.just make sure that ur settings r on burn and not simulate
