How to reinstall my NIC?

Well I am a computer dummy. So could you explain it to me in a way I can understand? I know network card is something inside myc computer? does reinstalling it means, putting a new network card or reinstalling drivers? If so what drivers are they?

Answers:
Depends on if the NIC is built into the motherboard or is a seperate card that is installed into a PCI slot. If you already have an existing card in the machine then you might just need to install the drivers. Most onboard cards have a driver on the motherboard CD. Most seperate NICs have either a floppy or CD of their own. If you are unsure, you could always take it to a local repair shop or have a technician come and look at it for you. Some ISPs will walk you through the process or send a tech out to help you.
why do you want to reinstall your NIC?

a NIC is a Network Interface Card, if you are on a computer network or have dsl or another kind of high speed internet connection it interfaces with the modem or other computers on a network.

if you do want to uninstall: go to start, control panel, switch to classic view, system, hardware, device manager, network adapters, then look for something that says 10/100 nic or whatever the device is, then right click it and press properties, then press update driver software. (this will take you off the internet for a minute)
go to your device manager, and look for Network adaptors, in there you will see the NIC card, It will tell you the type of card you have. You can r. click and make sure it is enabled, also you can update the driver from there if need be.
